My tribute to Jonathan Hewitt.

My tribute to a very special man, who changed my life forever…

Mr Jonathan Hewitt

I first meet Jon Hewitt in July 1994 at the Royal Hospital in Liverpool.

He was part of the team running a private IVF clinic.

My first consultation was with Jon and each subsequent visit was with him…

Treatment started in September and I successfully conceived…

Although only three embryos were put back, I managed somehow to end up carrying four babies…

Unfortunately this pregnancy only made it to 24 weeks when I went into premature labour; there was nothing that could be done to save my babies.

Jon was with me at the Old Women’s Hospital shortly after I gave birth to my son and three daughters…

His kind words and support were invaluable.

I was the last patient to ever leave that hospital as it closed down the same day I gave birth…

I think that Jon would have been the last doctor to ever leave that hospital to…

Five months later I returned to the New Women’s Hospital to under go my second IVF treatment…

Jon agreed to treat me throughout the whole of the treatment, and all of my anti natal care.

We had built up so much trust in this man, this very special man.

I can clearly remember during my “egg collection”, Jon and my husband discussing the golf tournament the was being played at the time and betting between themselves on who was going to win, if memory serves me correctly, Jon’s money was on Tiger Woods!!

I was quite put out by the fact that they were chatting like this, but it certainly took my mind of the procedure!!

33 weeks later, on the 19th May 1996 my beautiful baby boy, Morgan Jon was born…

Much to the surprise of my midwife and the other medical staff on duty,

Jon was there to deliver him… for which I am eternally grateful…

In 1999, 10 months after the death of my husband, Jon carried out my hysterectomy.

With all that had happened in my life in such a short space of time, Jon was my rock, his compassion and understanding went way beyond the call of duty for this, and again I am so grateful…

In 2000 I moved away from the North West, to start a new life for Morgan and myself, which I have done very successfully…

It was yesterday, 20th July 08 I made a decision to visit the Women’s Hospital again, well the IVF clinic to say hello and to thank everyone again and of course take my son and show him off…

I thought the best thing to do before travelling back up North would be to check out if Jon was still at the hospital, as after all he was my main man!!

This is when I discovered to my deepest shock that Jon had past away in 2002.

I felt, and still feel numb, what a waste of such a special and extremely gifted man, a man who had changed so many peoples lives…

I felt that I had to write this, even though it is 6 years after Jon’s passing.

I want everyone who knew him and especially his family, just to know how grateful I am to have known such a wonderful man…

A man who made my life complete.

To you… Mr Jonathan Hewitt…
